Artificial intelligence is not coming. It is already here — reshaping how we work, how we communicate, and how we understand ourselves. Learning to live with AI is, for people of faith, not merely a technological challenge. It is a spiritual one.
The Ground Is Shaking is an exploration of what Christian contemplative traditions have to say to a world being remade by machine intelligence — and what that world might, in turn, be asking of us. Written in transparent collaboration with an AI, it practices what it preaches: honest, attentive engagement with the new, in the belief that such engagement is itself a form of faithfulness.

Review (Gilda Wray)
Malcolm C. Dragon’s The Ground Is Shaking: Learning to Live with AI, is a thoughtful, timely, and meaningful book.
Malcolm approaches the uncertainty surrounding AI with curiosity, humility, deep faith, and a genuine concern for what it means to be human.
Reading his book feels like sitting alongside a wise elder who welcomes you into a deep conversation, asks questions worth considering, and gives you room to think with him.
Malcolm brings a lifetime of valuable perspective to this time in our world. What I especially appreciate is his ability to look beneath the question being asked and uncover the deeper one waiting there. Rather than asking what AI will do to our future, he invites us to ask who we want to become in the midst of whatever lies ahead.
Malcolm doesn’t pretend to have all the answers. Instead, he offers thoughtful, practical ways to live with greater intention, guarding our attention, nurturing relationships, and choosing presence over productivity.
This is more than a book about technology. It’s an invitation to remember who we are, consider who we are becoming, and find ways to live faithfully in a changing world.
A wonderful book, and one I’m delighted to recommend.
