Contemplative Writing for the Spiritual Life

This is Exegena — a space for writing, reflection, and spiritual formation at the intersection of faith, contemplation, and the questions of our time.

Whether you have come looking for a novel, a non-fiction book, or practical resources for the spiritual life, you are welcome here.

Malcolm C Dragon

I am a writer and contemplative Christian (often known in my ministry work as Brother Malcolm), rooted in decades of Salvation Army community life. My work — fiction, non-fiction, and ministry resources — grows from a practice of silence, attentive reading, and slow thought. It is written for anyone who takes the life of the spirit seriously, and who suspects that the contemplative tradition has something urgent to say to the world we are living in.

Ministry resources

Alongside my books, Exegena offers practical tools for spiritual formation and pastoral care. One of these is The Promise Box, a collection of scripture for daily reflection. There’s also a range of Practical Faith Guides addressing the questions of everyday Christian life that will later be compiled into a book.
